Deep Brain Reorienting ®

Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) is a gentle, neuroscience-informed trauma therapy that supports the nervous system to process shock and threat without needing to relive distressing memories. Sessions move slowly and carefully, allowing the body to respond in its own time, helping restore a sense of safety and ease.

Processing the shock and threat reduces the intensity of the underlying stress responses, therefore DBR can make emotions feel less overwhelming and this creates a calmer foundation for other therapies, such as IFS. This means that when you work on deeper emotional or relational patterns in subsequent therapy, you can approach them with greater ease, clarity, and resilience. DBR sessions can be a great pre-cursor to other therapies.

DBR works by noticing subtle sensations and impulses that arise beneath conscious thought, before emotions or stories take over. This approach can be especially helpful for people who feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, hypervigilance, freeze, or emotional overwhelm. By working slowly and respectfully with the body and brain, DBR can support greater calm, presence, and resilience, helping clients feel more grounded, connected, and at ease in daily life.
